Jobs at Esperanza: Esperanza employs attorneys, paralegals, a representative accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals and administrative assistants. Internships / Externship Opportunities at Esperanza: Summer Internships: Esperanza hosts between 4 and 7 students for a 10-week summer internship. Our interns primarily consist of first and second year law students. Our first year law student interns support our work across all programs. Our second year law student interns have the opportunity to co-counsel a removal (deportation) case with an Esperanza attorney. Sometimes, we also host undergraduate students. At this time, all our 2010 summer internship positions have been filled. Academic Year Internships: Esperanza hosts law student volunteers, and sometimes undergraduate students, during the academic year. Esperanza is registered with the Greater Los Angeles Consortium on Externships (GLACE) to be able to provide academic credit to law student externs from most Los Angeles area law schools. UCLA Detention Clinic: Esperanza works closely with a student-run law clinic at the UCLA School of Law, which sends a team of law students to the Mira Loma Detention Center every Friday afternoon during the academic year to help us provide individual orientations to detainees, complete immigration applications and provide other support functions at Mira Loma. One-Week Winter / Spring Break Internships: Esperanza currently hosts teams of students from two law schools who visit in annual service projects during spring break or winter break: Boston College School of Law and University of Minnesota Law School. We may be open to hosting teams from other schools. Please contact Program Director Caitlin Williams, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
