
Yasmin Castillo Amaya

Yasmin Castillo Amaya grew up in the city of Los Angeles, California in 1995. She graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice in 2017. Yasmin is currently pursuing her master’s degree in social work at the University of Denver. Yasmin loves spending time with her family and three dogs. Yasmin favorite things to do is go to the beach and Disneyland.
A bit of Yasmin’s professional story is, Yasmin began her career in mentoring first generation college students and provided intervention for children in the Autism Spectrum.
Eventually, Yasmin decided to move to Falcon, Colorado in 2018. Upon her move to Colorado, Yasmin gained experience in working with at risk youth. She has worked with clients in residential facilities providing support for young people experiencing drug abuse, sexual abuse, child abuse, trafficking, etc. She then continued enhancing her career in working in a non-profit for alternative permanent placement serving children in foster care. Yasmin worked with her team to find foster care placements for children in the state of Colorado. After doing this for two years she then moved to another nonprofit to enhance her skills where she was a victim advocate for adults and children. She continued her career by becoming a county social worker in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Eventually, after five years, she came back to the city of Los Angeles to be closer to family. She worked for the county again as a Public Health Social Worker serving Oxnard, California population.
Finally, Yasmin is serving unaccompanied minors as a program Navigator with Esperanza Catholic Charities since 2023. She now supports families throughout the state of California by providing as many resources as possible to families in need. Yasmin foresees working in vulnerable populations to provide as much advocacy, resources, and social support.
